Kenneth (Ken) Wolfson is the first ever Maryland Certified Gambling Peer Recovery Support Specialist with the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling (the Center). As a Peer for the Center, Ken assists individuals within Maryland struggling with problem gambling and gambling addiction to navigate recovery treatment resources and helps remove any barriers to recovery. Ken received his Peer Certification in 2013.
In 2014, he became a Certified Recovery Coach, and completed training in Integrated Forensic Peer Recovery in 2016. His Peer education continued as he became certified in 2019 as a Registered Peer Supervisor. Prior to joining the Center, Ken worked at Epoch Counseling Center providing peer counseling and case management services to mental health illness & substance abuse clients.
He was hired by the Army’s 12 Battalion in 2011 as a civilian for the Department of Defense and worked as a Military Entrance Test Administrator for over four years. For 23 years, Ken served as a Master USCG Licensed Captain operating and managing all aspects of several passenger cruise vessels. Ken is also a Paris College certified Master Jeweler, His entrepreneurial ventures include Olbear-Jewelry, an Internationally recognized online fine jewelry company in its 21st year, and KDL Insurance Replacement Company, specializing in replacement and reproduction of missing, lost or stolen fine jewelry. Ken has lived abroad, traveled the world, and brings to the Center a wealth of experience and insight. To see the light of recovery & hope begin to shine bright in those he assists, continues to be one of his greatest passions in life!
