The Holiday Lottery Campaign encourages parents, family members and friends NOT to give lottery tickets as gifts to Minors. (Minors are youth under 18 years of age)
For the past 8 years the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Center for Youth Gambling Problems & High-Risk Behaviors have partnered with lotteries in the United States, Canada and internationally to send this important reminder. We are pleased to recognize that the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency has been one of those who endorse this Holiday Campaign.
National research demonstrates that youth gambling is linked to other risk-taking behaviors such as smoking, alcohol and drug use.
