Celebrating the Big Game? Play it Safe!

This weekend (Sunday, February 3, 2019) is February’s Big Game, one of the most celebrated sports events of the year. It’s also one of the biggest sports events for placing a bet. According to the AGA, an estimated 22.7 million adults this year will place a bet before or during the game as part of the festivities.

The Big Game is a great time to have fun with family and friends. But for some, the partying and gambling can get out of control, causing stress to the individual, to family and friends. This year, put in place some strategies before and during the game to keep yourself a winner!

* If you place a bet, look at it as entertainment and NOT a way to make money or win back previous losses.

* Don’t bet more than you can afford to lose – set a money limit and stick with it.

* Limit the amount of drinking when you’re gambling – the more you drink the more money you’re likely to bet.

Remember, gambling on the game or any sports should not be viewed as a financial solution – it’s just a game!
