Ready for the BIG GAME this weekend?

If you bet – PLAY IT SAFE!

This weekend (Sunday, February 7, 2020) is football’s Big Game, one of the most celebrated sports events of the year.  It’s also one of the biggest sports events for placing a bet.  This year, according to the American Gaming Association (AGA) an estimated 23.2 million people in the U.S. will wager around $4.3 billion on this year’s game. A record 7.6 million people will bet with an online sportsbook, according to the AGA survey.

The Big Game is traditionally a great time to have fun with family and friends. This year with pandemic restrictions in place, Big Game party gatherings will certainly look a bit different, with many going virtual or sized down. But even with cautious guidelines in place, for some the partying, drinking and gambling can get out of control, causing stress to the individual, to family and friends.

This year, put in place some strategies before and during the game to keep yourself a winner!

  • If you place a bet, look at it as entertainment and NOT a way to make money or win back previous losses.
  • Don’t bet more than you can afford to lose – set a money limit and stick with it.
  • Limit the amount of drinking when you’re gambling – the more you drink the more money you’re likely to bet.

Remember, gambling on the game or any sports should NOT be viewed as a financial solution – it’s just a game!
