Summary:​
What is advocacy and who can participate? This training will offer a high-level overview of advocacy – as compared to lobbying – and how to effectively advocate for change with elected officials. There will be discussion of the types of advocacies and the work that the Center has led in Annapolis around responsible gambling and consumer protection. At the end of this training, participants will have the information needed to begin advocating for meaningful change in Maryland.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand what advocacy involves and how anyone can be an advocate.
  2. Discuss examples of successful and unsuccessful advocacy efforts of the Center.
  3. Increase competence and confidence to participate in the Maryland legislative process.
